Overland Park’s Discourse Brewing Takes Gold at World Beer Cup
DISCOURSE BREWING Awarded GOLD at 2026 World Beer Cup®
Discourse Brewing was awarded a Gold in the 2026 World Beer Cup, the most prestigious beer competition in the world.
The award ceremony took place on April 22, 2026, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia where awards were given in 114 style categories and five cider categories. Discourse Brewing was awarded a Gold award in the Dortmunder/Export or German Style Oktoberfest beer style category for its Used 8 Track, a Dortmunder beer they rotate in and out of the tap list. Dortmunder is a style of German lager that is a little hoppier than a Helles but this beer is more about the balance of the malt than the hops.
Discourse Brewing is a 5-bbl brewery and taproom located at 7211 W. 97th St. in Overland Park that opened in late 2023. They have a rotating tap list that features lagers, sours, stouts, and IPA’s. They are known for their small-batch, high-quality beers and their focus on fostering a welcoming space for community, conversation, and collaboration.
“Winning a gold at World Beer Cup is a major accomplishment and we are proud to be able to bring world-class beer to Overland Park,” said Matt Britton, Owner/Brewer at Discourse Brewing. World Beer Cup, better known as the “Olympics of Beer Competitions,” recognizes the best in brewing from all over the world. This year, a group of 255 discerning beer judges, hailing from 37 countries, carefully evaluated 8,166 entries from 1,644 breweries across 50 countries. Established by the Brewers Association in 1996, the World Beer Cup Competition continues its legacy annually, representing the international brewing elite and celebrating producer craftsmanship.
