Description
The Overland Park Chamber Foundation is partnering with the The Civic Trust of the U.S. Chamber Foundation to host the third annual National Civics Bee® in Northeast Kansas! The National Civics Bee® is a nonpartisan competition aimed at improving civics education and literacy among middle school students, their families, and communities. To enter the competition students submitted essays showcasing ideas they have to benefit their local communities. The top 20 finalists are invited to compete in our local competition, where first place will win a $500 cash prize, second place will win a $250 cash prize, and third place will win a $125 cash prize. The top three winners will advance to the state competition hosted by the Kansas Leadership Center (KLC) in Wichita, KS. The top state winners will receive various prizes, and the first-place winner of the State Finals will earn a trip to Washington, D.C. to compete in the National Championship in the Fall of 2025. Prizes at the National Championship include a grand prize of a $100,000 education savings plan for first place, $25,000 for second place, and $15,000 for third place.
