The Overland Park Chamber Foundation is partnering with The Civic Trust of the U.S. Chamber Foundation to host the third annual National Civics Bee® in Northeast Kansas! The National Civics Bee is a nonpartisan competition aimed at improving civics education and literacy among middle school students, their families, and communities. To enter the competition, students must submit essays showcasing ideas to benefit their local communities. The top 20 finalists are invited to compete in our local competition, where first place will win a $500 cash prize, second place will win $250, and third place will win $125.
The top three winners will advance to the state competition in the summer hosted by the Kansas Leadership Center (KLC). The top state winners will receive various cash prizes, and the first-place winner will earn a trip to Washington D.C. to compete in the National Championship in the Fall of 2026. Prizes at the National Championship include a grand prize of a $100,000 education saving plan contribution for first place, $25,000 for second, and $15,000 for third.
